Spring 2: Ordinal NumbersEO have started to look at ordinal numbers. They have discussed the difference between ordinal numbers and cardinal numbers and when we use the different types. The children have found out that to make an ordinal number, you need a number and some letters after. We have also discussed the importance of finding the ordinal number by first knowing which direction you are working from. The ordinal number can change depending on whether you are working from left to right or right to left.
Spring 2: TimeDuring our first week back to school, we have started to practise telling the time to o'clock. The children have become increasingly confident using practise clock to move the hour and minute hands to make different times with their partner.
Spring 1: Division
We have started our new topic on division this week. We have discussed how to 'divide' means 'to share'.
Spring 1: Multiplication
This term EO have began looking at multiplication. They have had lots of fun using practical resources to help work out different questions. EO have learnt two different methods to help work out multiplication word problems- arrays and grouping. They have also discussed the commutative law of multiplication- 3x4= 12 and 4x3 also equals 12. 4 groups of 3 will be exactly the same as 3 groups of 4!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
