Dear Parents, Carers and Children of Warren Farm School,
Welcome back to all returning pupils and parents and welcome to all new pupils and their parents. It is nice to see everyone looking smart in their uniforms. Everyone has been back a couple of weeks now and I am sure we are all getting back into the swing of things.
Firstly I would like to apologise that my termly reports didn’t get completed last year. I can assure you governors were very active in school, not only attending the full Governors Meetings but coming in to observe classes and supporting school activities. I spoke with many of you at the book fayre, during the meet the governor’s session and at Parents Evening and it was lovely to hear the positive stories and feedback about how brilliantly your children are doing.
A particular highlight for me was attending the beach day! We all had a fabulous day playing games, doing summer activities followed by a lovely lunch of burger and chips with a Mr Whippy ice cream to follow. I would like not only to thank Mrs Barr and all of the staff for the after school hours put in for preparation but also the support staff who came in on their non-working days to make this day such a success. We all had lots of fun.
Well I am planning a very busy year for Governors, we are always striving to improve how we do things and this year will be no different. We are hoping to hold additional “Meet the Governor” sessions, with more governors attending so that you get to know us all.
I look forward to another successful year for the children of Warren Farm School and highlight to you again our school Motto “TEAM” - Together Everyone Achieves More. I will update you with our goings on in the coming months.
Best wishes
Carla Bates
Chair of Governors
My name is Carla Bates and I have been a Governor at Warren Farm School since October 2006. Initially coming as a Local Education Authority Governor and becoming a parent Governor in 2010 when my daughter started in nursery.
In my day time job I am a Family Support Worker covering both North and East Birmingham. My experience in this role gives me the knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding / Child Protection and Special Education Needs (SEN), for these past years this has been my focus within the school.
It is with great pride that I have recently been appointed the Chair of Governors and over the next 12 months will be working with the senior leaders in school to ensure the Board of Governors are able to support the senior leaders to take the school in the right direction to achieve the best outcomes possible for our children. In order to do this I will be coming into school on a weekly basis, working closely with Gill, Kate, Mark and the team. I will be a regular face in school attending assemblies and doing walk arounds the school observing the excellent work our children complete. Where possible I will update parents via the website with what has been happening around school when I have been in, on a termly basis.
