Our second Autumn topic is 'History of Birmingham'.
Our Autumn term topic is Shelters.
The children had to answer and discuss reasons to why we have particular shelters and what purposes they have.
The children had fun creating a group shelter which had to withstand various elements.
The children have learnt about 'Anderson Shelters' in the form of researching and creating fact files.
In preparation for the workshop the children created an equipment list and a flow diagram showing how they would create an Anderson Shelter.
Parents and children had great fun creating replica 'Anderson shelters'. For most of the children it was the first time they used saws and glue guns. Fun was had by all. Thank you to all adult volunteers who came along and helped tidy up at the end.
We are looking forward to our 'History of Birmingham' topic later in the year when we will remind ourselves of the trip to Cadbury World and the important links it had with Birmingham.
